They take two main forms:
epics combining a series of tales into a single major story, and
medleys weaving stories, songs and verse around a single
major theme.
Fire Springs' shows weave together stories, poems and music.
Company members have performed throughout Britain, in theatres, museums, schools, churches, pubs and clubs. They have appeared at festivals, camps, gatherings, and at secular and spiritual communities. They perform as a whole group, in various combinations and as individual storytellers.
They reshape stories from the past to speak to our own time, and craft new tales that look sideways at the present or prophetically into the future.
The shows are either major productions, lasting for about two hours, or other productions, lasting between thirty and ninety minutes.
Fire Springs enjoy working together as a creative team.
Projects under development by company members include:
The Choosing (working title) – a future myth for today’s world, involving a young woman’s journey through the present, past and future to find the voices and wisdom she needs to transform herself and her threatened world.
Tales of the Celtic Saints (working title) – a series of interlocking tales about the early Celtic saints, where love and respect for the natural world transcends Dark Age dogma and despair.
